Open Studios Report: clamp lights, kanten… artwork. That’s all it took to keep felishino studio #219 visitors satisfied and coming back for more… of Mr. Yoshi’s kanten treat that is. With one weeks preparation, the refreshment table was a hit! For those who missed it, Mr. Yoshi lovingly prepared 2 variations of the popular Japanese dessert. One consisted of kanten (agar based jello), shiratama dango (mochi balls) and fruit accented with yuzu jam sauce. The second was a mix of matcha (green tea) and anko (red bean paste) flavored kanten and more dango drizzled with black sugar syrup.
Yoshi kept the dessert cups replenished throughout the reception and ended up with no leftovers. A very satisfying outcome!
Oh yeah… and the studio walls covered with felishino illustrations also shared some of the limelight.
The portrait section of the wall got special attention. Thanks to little Taye, Elle, Alessio and Renzo
In addition to selling books, cards, prints and one original artwork, I was visited by friends, family, fellow AE artists and both returning open studio visitors and those new to my work. (Apologies that this is not reflected in the photos below… I forgot to take pictures during the reception!!!
This is Elaina Erika Davis, narrator of the Audible.com version of A Place Where Sunflowers Grow. Read more about this exciting, yet unexpected encounter in a separate blog post!
On Sunday, the final day of the show, Sora & Yume stopped in to explore AE Studios and have some snacks.
Yume dabbled with some watercolors…
Sora also was inspired to draw…
